Transky Live at Paul Bothner Music in Stellenbosch

Transky

What happens when you take three accomplished musicians and put them in the same band? You get something remarkable, something like coffee and Ouma’s Rusks, like Tom and Jerry, or like the newly formed Transky.

Transky is one of the newest bands to emerge from the depths of Cape Town. The band is made up of familiar names, taking on a new project and persona. On vocals, you have none other than Jean Huisman. Jean proves that he is more than a humble singer, and doubles up as one of the band’s guitarists. Joining the band on lead guitar is Rory Skinner, and on percussion, we have none other Jean Marais.

It’s not often that a freshly formed band can capture the imagination of audiences, but Transky does not disappoint! These okes know how to hold an audience in the palm of their hands.

Of course, the proof, as they say, is in the pudding. So if you want to see what these guys are capable of, you should come through and watch them play at Paul Bothner Music in Stellenbosch.

More about the Band

Transky bills themselves as an ensemble which adapts and changes according to the demands of the environment. They formed when Rory and Jean identified a need for a project that would be highly mobile while being adaptable to different musical contexts.

The duo rounded out their tone when they added the smooth, but raspy vocals and explosive rhythms that Jean brought to the table.

Transky plays music that ranges from old traditional blues to folk, grunge, pop music and more modern styles.
