1 OCTOBER AT 18H00

UCT Opera School, in collaboration with Cape Town Opera, presents

MOZART
THE MAGIC FLUTE

UCT Symphony Orchestra

Conductor: Kamal Khan
Director: Matthew Wild
Designer: Michael Mitchell

Following their well-received collaboration on Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda in 2015, Matthew Wild and Kamal Khan turn their attention to Mozart’s mysterious and magical late masterpiece. As young Prince Tamino undertakes a quest to rescue Princess Pamina, he learns hard truths about the real world: that evil can be disguised as good, that heartbreak and joy can come hand in hand, and that true love will be tested.

The profound clarity of Mozart’s late writing is never more affecting than when performed by beautiful youthful voices. For this production, the best talents of UCT Opera School perform alongside Cape Town Opera Studio singers, including Johannes Slabbert and Noluvuyiso Mpofu.

Book at Computicket.
