New for 2010 is a series of Ovation Guitars that have ornate graphic designs on the front, the “Demented” series as they are known were created by Guns n’ Roses guitarist Darren Jay “DJ” Ashba – himself a graphic designer. The “Boneyard” guitar uses a mid-depth bowl with a Spruce top which is covered with the Boneyard colourful graphics, the cut-away body has multiple sound holes located at the left hand shoulder of the instrument used to resonate the acoustic sound of the instrument.The neck uses Nato wood and has a natural satin finish whilst the fretboard is Rosewood that has been stained black, there are no discernable fret markers other than an ornate logo at the 12th fret …
Sound comes courtesy of the Ovation OP4BT Pre-amp which has EQ adjustment and volume attenuation and is located on the upper edge of the instrument body for easy access. The bridge – like the fret board has been crafted from Rosewood and the strings thread through the bridge itself, up at the headstock there are 6 closed back machine heads finished in chrome …
