The biggest and most popular one-day, open air, music presentation in South Africa is back for another instalment

Celebrating 19 years, the Tribute Concert firmly aligned as a premier event in the country’s music industry will take place in Pretoria, the capital City of Tshwane on Saturday, 3 September 2016. Drakensberg Promotions, the organisers of this much-celebrated festival are committed to the call to action to increase local content and as pioneers of celebrating a 100% local event have unveiled this year’s programme.

The Moretele Park Festival features a stellar line-up of artists from diverse music genres including five-time 2016 winner of the SAMA’s Nathi as well as SAMA and Grammy award-winner Wouter Kellerman.

Among the music royalty headlining the 2016 festival are South African veteran jazz musicians all of whom are global trailblazers and include much loved veteran performers Hugh Masikela, Jonas Gwangwa, and Tshepo Tshola.

Joining the veteran Jazz musicians is South African music legend Babsy Mlangeni, a connoisseur of note, with a platinum track record that speaks volumes Don Laka, legendary jazz musician and globally acclaimed songstress Letta Mbuli.

Thousands of revellers at the Moretele Park Tribute Concert will also be entertained by South Africa’s most favourite music group and SAMA award winners Mafikizolo. Also billed to perform is 2016 SAMA award Female Artist of the Year R&B/Soul superstar Zonke.

The Tribute concerts will feature development artists from Puisano Jazz Bands and Tshwane Development Bands.

On August 27, Drakensberg Promotions will host a music business workshop in Pretoria. Aimed at musicians and practitioners and business interests in the sector wanting to know more about the business of music the workshop will bring in key expertise to share insights, best practice and knowledge.

Moretele Park Tribute Concert will also feature a series of lunch time concerts hosted by the Newtown Junction mall on Saturdays the 6, 13 and 20 August from 12h00 to 14h00 as part of the 2016 build-up.
