In 1999, a small club in Cape Town opened. The club had a simple vision; to be the home for alternative music and the alternative music scene.
17 Years later, and Gandalfs is one of the staple names in the Cape Town Music scene. Just about every metal and rock band in Cape Town has played at Gandalfs.
Gandalfs 17th Birthday Party
The club is made up of two stories. The ground floor, Gandalfs, and the upstairs live music venue, ROAR. ROAR is one of the few venues that actively encourages the growth of local bands. The driving force behind this is Antonio, the club’s owner.
This year, the club is turning 17. To celebrate, Gandalfs is once again going all out.
Drinks Specials
One of the hallmarks and drawing cards for most Gandalfs parties is their insane drinks specials. This birthday bash will be no different. You can get three beers for R10, or a shot of Jack for R6. With specials this crazy, it would be wise to either have a designated driver or to use an Uber.
On top of all the specials, there will also be FREE jug giveaways throughout the course of the evening. All you need to do to get a jug is be in the right spot at the right time!
Specials on the night will run from 19:00 till 21:00.
The Music
Of course, the highlight of a Gandalfs birthday party is always the bands playing. Antonio always books solid bands who know how to give the crowds what they want.

11:15 – Ohgod
00:00 – Ethyl Ether (EP LAUNCH)
If however live music isn’t your thing, the downstairs area will be playing a mix of Alternative, Metal, Goth, Punk, Indie, Pop and 80’s all night long! So let your hair down and dance the night away.
