Description

The mahogany body and maple top are contoured for gigging comfort, while the Revstar neck profile and jumbo frets deliver smooth, precise playability. A pair of Yamaha YGD Custom Alnico V P-90 single-coil pickups serves up a wide tonal range, further enhanced by the push-pull dry switch that enables single-coil-like tones. The guitar is also equipped with a Bigsby B50 vibrato tailpiece for old-school pitch expression. With excellent craftsmanship, distinguished tone, and great playability, the Yamaha RS702B Revstar is an outstanding instrument in its class.

Yamaha-designed P-90 pickups deliver iconic tone

As far as we are concerned, every guitarist should have a guitar loaded with P-90 single-coil pickups in their collection. You get the snap and spank of a single-coil pickup, but with the girth and low-mid richness that you’d expect from a humbucker. The custom-designed P-90 pickups in the RS702B utilize Alnico V magnets, a silver baseplate, and plain enamel wire, creating a clear, vintage-inspired tone with plenty of bite. Set your tube amplifier on the cusp of overdrive, and you’ll be able to take the RS702B from chimey cleans to bratty breakup with just its volume knob.

Add snap and presence with a push-pull dry switch

Yamaha’s innovative dry switch on the RS702B Revstar gives you the tone-shaping capabilities of a coil tap circuit, while maintaining the noise-free operation of your humbuckers. The push-pull dry switch is actually a passive filter that cuts out low frequencies, giving your tone even more clarity and punch to cut through the mix. You’ll achieve the same enhanced snap and twang that you’d expect from a single-coil pickup, without introducing any noise into your signal chain.

Prodigious sustain from set-neck construction

The mahogany neck on the Yamaha RS702B Revstar is set directly into the mahogany body. Guitarists love the set-neck design because it maximizes vibrational transfer throughout the guitar for impressive sustain and helps enhance note definition too. Clean tones ring out like a bell, while overdriven tones can sustain for days.
