Earthdance Music Festival 2016
By PAUL BOTHNER MUSIC | September 21, 2016
Give peace a dance with the Earthdance Music Festival 2016! Each year hundreds of thousands of people flock to Earthdance; a worldwide synchronised prayer, meditation and dance festival.
2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the Earthdance global peace party. Earthdance is more than just another trance party or weekend away. It is a global effort aimed to help usher in peace. In the 20 years that the festival has been running, more than 700 events have been held in over 50 countries!
Earthdance directly supports local and international non-profit organisations like:
The festival started in 1997 with a simple goal; to learn from the community and local spiritual leaders and to learn to usher in peace. That is why the festival is aligned with International Peace Day (September 21)
This year the festival organisers for each country were given the option to selected which weekend they wanted to host their event. The South African organisers selected to host their Earthdance festival on the weekend after Peace Day.
The festival will run from September 23 to September 25, 2016.
Ticket prices range from R290 (day tripper) to R460 (weekend pass, at the gate. Note that no cash will be accepted at the Gate. If you would like to purchase your ticket at the gate, only credit cards will be accepted)
This year’s event will feature two stages. The main stage will be the Psytrance floor and will run from Saturday afternoon until Sunday afternoon, and the second stage will be a techno and Psy Trance floor on Friday night and Saturday morning.
On Saturday afternoon the second stage will start playing Downtempo and Techno until Sunday afternoon.
Earthdance’s mission is to celebrate and serve through its music and dance events; and to promote peace, sustainability and social justice via its international community, and its network of event producer partners.
