Multiple award-winning South African acoustic guitarist Tony Cox has become a veritable icon in his own country and has been described as one of South Africa’s finest musical exports. Tony has played to audiences throughout Europe and North America, pan African Continent and his dedicated home followers….His finger picking style together with, at times, raunchy lyrics will amuse bewilder and beguile…a definite jewel and not to be missed.

ASHEL HAMEL

A multi-talented singer-songwriter, visiting from Conneticut USA. Ashley started playing guitar at age 15 and started writing music immediately and enjoys playing with songwriting styles, executing everything between sweet poetic ballads to riotous anthems of energy. With a background in theatre and improv comedy, Ashley delivers audience-centric performances that entertain and move at the same time. With her debut EP, By the Window (released August 2014), Ashley Hamel will surely leapfrog her way into your heart and ears.

Originally from the Eastern Cape, performing creative arts, radio content and presenter, songstress. Sun kissed and enriched by traversing the majority of Southern Africa, Ms Meri Kenaz, an award winning Grahamstown National Arts Festival artist weaves lyrics and melodies from her experiences, habitat and passions. The Barleycorn meets every Monday at 20h00 at Villager FC, 11 Imam Haron Road (previously Lansdowne Road), Claremont.

Entrance is (usually) R20 for members and R30 for non-members.

A full bar and pub food kitchen are operational at the venue.
