Three Piece Musical Masterclass

By PAUL BOTHNER MUSIC | November 10, 2017

SAMA Award Winner Albert Frost

Join three of the most accomplished musicians in South Africa for this one of a kind masterclass!

That’s right! As a once off workshop, Albert Frost, Westly Rustin, and Jonno Sweetman will be joining forces. This is a once off Guitar Frenzy event. Space is limited and we anticipate a large turnout, so be sure to arrive early if you want a seat.

When: Saturday 18 November 2017
Where: Paul Bothner Music N1 City
Shop 71, N1 Value Centre
Time: 12H00

What To Expect

The once-off trio will be presenting a range of topics, all roughly themed around improvisation. More specifically they will look into and discuss:

How to get a balance between your musicians, the sound, and the room.
Using your gear to express yourself musically with the band environment
Expanding your sound: For this section, each of the three will talk individually. So you will learn the specifics of how each of the trio members achieves their individual tone.
How to read an audience and engage accordingly

The Bass Master, Wesley Rustin

After they, they will open the discussion up to the floor for a Q&A segment.

If you want to be kept in the loop about other workshops, be sure to [join our mailing list]. Or, [click here] to check out the rest of our Guitar Frenzy 2017 Workshops.

More About Albert

Albert Frost is a familiar and respected feature of the South African blues-rock music scene.

For the past two decades, the energetic performances of this accomplished guitarist have dazzled audiences as he deftly alternates between rhythm and lead, while showcasing acoustic and electric guitars. His first love is blues, stemming from the influence of his long relationship with the Blues Broers with whom he has performed since 1994.

April 2016 saw the release of his much anticipated third solo album, The Wake Up, which, according to Frost, signals the “start of a new journey” for him. In a departure from Frost’s blues roots, The Wake Up explores various musical avenues and lyrical content to create something he says will surprise and excite his fans. The album won in the coveted Best Rock Album category at the 2017 SAMA Awards.

In 1990, he studied jazz at MAPP (Music Action for People’s Progress), this was his formal introduction to jazz music. After he studied at MAPP, he played mainly weekends and one or two nights a week due to his day job.

In 2001, Wesley Rustin seized the opportunity to perform professionally and ever since managed to remain one of the busiest bass players in town.
