The Best Affordable Electric Guitar of 2021

Every year guitar.com hosts their revered Award Series for the best guitars of the year. And this year in particular, the “Best Affordable Electric Guitar of the Year” category has been incredibly competitive.

Here’s what guitar.com had to say about the category: “The budget electric market has has been booming over the last few years, and with the quality and variety we’ve seen in 2021, it’s no wonder that they can’t make these guitars fast enough.”

With nods going to some of our favourite guitars and brands of the year, we can’t help but agree with their picks. Fender, Cort, Jackson, Gretsch, and more all made the cut.

Let’s take a look at the cream of the crop of affordable electric guitars in 2021, and help you pick yours!

The Nominees - Our Picks

Jackson Soloist SLX DX

Guild Starfire IJet 90

The Winner

The entire Fender Player Plus range absolutely blew us away this year,  offering substantial, player-focused upgrades on the standard Player range, while retaining the relatively affordable price point the Player series is known for.

The specific winner this year was the Player Plus Nashville Telecaster, with its mixture of a full complement of Tele tones and convincing Strat quack in positions two and four, it’s a seriously versatile proposition.
