Belinda covered the subject, Technology in Song writing. She opened the session, pointing out how recordings were done in the past by professionals in large studios, with very expensive equipment. In recent years that has all changed with laptops, tablets and smart phones. Belinda commented further that a recording studio can not exist without the song. She went into discussions on inspirations to write a song and how she gets inspired from paintings ect.

She said there is no time limit in writing a song, it can take from a few hours to a year to complete. Do you first write the lyrics and then the cords? With her it works the other way round. After time was given for discussions and questions, Deon introduced the Boss Micro BR as a tool and aid in song writing, and how it can be used to assist in capturing your ideas for later editing and also how useful it is to burn a demo CD.

Malcolm followed with a discussion on the Roland Quad capture interface, and why it is necessary for studio monitors with a practical demonstration of the Alesis M1 Active monitors. Then the importance of studio microphones against stage microphones were discussed. In general a very limited workshop enjoyed by everybody.
