Spoegwolf: The First Afrikaans Band/Artist to Reach #1 on Apple Music

Spoegwolf

Paul Bothner Music would like to congratulate Spoegwolf on being the first Afrikaans artist or band to reach the #1 spot on Apple Music! This is a momentous achievement from on of the hardest working bands in the industry.

Spoegwolf’s music is a thought-provoking listening experience. It challenges and delights anyone who listens to the band’s music.

As one reviewer put it:

"With their thought-provoking lyrics and rich sound, Spoegwolf have all the ingredients necessary to make their music stand out from what is available in the current Afrikaans market."

History of Spoegwolf

In 2012 four guys got together with the aim of making some noise and having a blast doing it. They shared a common goal;  to make good Afrikaans music.

They were looking for something real and raw. A sound that wasn’t too hard, but not too soft either. They were looking for the heartbeat of an animal.

As the band grew over the years they have refined their sound. They have rightfully earned their place as the Face of Alternative Afrikaans Music!

In 2012 the band released their first album, Gravity. Since then they have released 3 more.

Not content to keep using other studios, Spoegwolf setup their own recording studio. Their latest album, The Dark Tower, was recorded at this studio in 2017.

Who are the members of Spoegwolf?

Danie du Toit, Vocals- a writer who brews beer in his closet.
Chris von Wielligh, Guitars and Vocals – the boat builder.
Albert van der Merwe, bass – makes shoes and has a garden.
Moscow du Toit, drums and vocals – is a famous cook in Paarl.

It must at this point be said that none of the four plays golf.
