About the Workshop

Erik Bosgraaf, the international recorder player from Amsterdam, appears in this extra-special Recorder Workshop at Rustenburg Girls’ Junior School as part of the 2019 Cape Town Baroque Festival ‘Diversity in Early Music,’ presented by the Camerata Tinta Barocca, artistic director: Erik Dippenaar, in association with Karin Maritz and the Department of Music, Stellenbosch University, Trinity College, London: Cape Town representative, Jenny Seager, and the Music Department at Rustenburg Girls’ Junior School, Rondebosch: Head of Music, Hendrik Marais.

More About Erik Bosgraaf

Born in the Netherlands, Erik Bosgraaf is widely considered to be one of the world’s leading recorder players.

In 2006, Erik received his Master of Arts in musicology from Utrecht University. Later in 2007, he released a 3-CD-box with compositions of the Dutch composer Jacob van Eyck under the supervision of a musicologist, Thiemo Wind.

Erik received a Borletti-Buitoni Trust award in 2009, which enabled him to purchase a set of special recorders. Later he received an award with Izhar Elias known as the Amsterdam Canal Festival Award. Last but not least, Erik received the Dutch Music Prize in 2011, which is the most prestigious award as it’s the highest national prize for music.
