Radiohead & Stratocasters

Ed O Brien Radiohead Guitarist
Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien headed into one of L.A.’s beautiful canyons for an in-depth interview with Fender about his musical background, his influences and why he is inspired by nature. Radiohead is one of the most seminal bands of the late 20th and early 21st century’s alternative music movement. His tone has been emulated by many guitarists of the grunge and punk styles because of its power and depth.

The longtime Fender Strat player also talked about the “genius” design of the instrument, which recently celebrated its 60th anniversary.“I have this fairly nutty theory, but I think all songs exist and you’ve just got to tap in there, and dial in the frequency to find it,” he said. “That’s what I feel about the Strat design. Like with great design, it’s always been there. It’s not forced. You just feel it. It feels like the Strat was plucked from the ether. It’s always been there. It just feels right.”
