Mackie Thrash Loudspeakers – Built to Rock the Room

We here at Bothners are massive fans of Mackie and their approach to producing high quality gear at attainable prices. By focusing on the important things – the build quality and the sound – Mackie have been able to do this with great success.

The brand new Mackie THRASH range of loudspeakers is absolutely no different. Coming in at a lower price point than their previous entry range, the THUMP, this new series is a stripped back, loud, proud, and affordable PA range.

The Headline Features

Simplicity is the name of the game with the Thrash speakers. A powerful power amplifier, a high-quality driver and titanium tweeter, basic I/O, and a sturdy design is the focus here. What more do you need, right!?

Well, perhaps some impressive specs may help:

  • 1300W ultra-efficient Class-D amplifier
  • Mackie’s Built-Like-A-Tank philosophy to conquer every gig while lightweight for easy loading
  • High-performance drivers
  • 2 XLR/Line input channels with independent gain
  • Master Level Control
  • XLR Mix Out
  • Pole mount it or use it as a floor monitor
  • Equipped with 4 handles for easy loading

Who is it for?

If you’re after a no-nonsense, LOUD audio solution for your band’s next gig, your next house party DJ slot, or even a reliable stage monitor, the Mackie Thrash series has you more than covered.

Thanks to it’s rugged construction, the Thrash series will be equally at home on the stage and in the rehearsal room.

The Range

The Thrash series is split into two offerings, the Thrash212, and the thrash 215.

Both speakers share the same power amp, I/O, and 1″ Titanium high-frequeny driver. What sets them apart, though is the primary driver, which has an impact on the overall frequency response and SPL.

The overall maximum volume is not vastly different between the two, but the low-end reponse is far superior on the Thrash215, a factor worth considering dependent on your needs!
