This is an open invite to take part in the 8th Annual Edgemead High School Classical Guitar Competition to be held on Saturday 22nd October 2016 at Edgemead High School at 14:00.
This performance platform was created as a means for students to show off their music skill as well as gain performance experience. Each participant will be rewarded with a performance medal on the night and therefore request a R50.00 entry fee. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals will also be awarded in each school grade category.
Trophies will be awarded for best Primary and High school guitarist as well as the Best Overall Performance.
Paul Bothner Music will be providing additional prizes for winners – A Set of Guitar Strings for each group and trophy.
Please enter early as the number of entrants will be limited.
All participants must be at the venue by 13:40. The competition will start at 14:00.
Competition Rules
- The competition is only open to Primary and High School classical guitarists.
- Each participant must provide a copy of their music to the adjudicator before their performance.
- Performances will be judged on: Technique, Musicality, Performance and Sight Reading Ability.
- No repeats in effect, but all da Capo and dal Segno signs to be observed
- Primary school pieces no longer than 2 minutes. High school pieces no longer than 4 minutes
- The judge’s decision is final.
Refreshments will be on sale during the interval.
