Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra CPO Spectacular

As the Beatles said, “there’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be” and you’re meant to be at the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s CPO Spectacular this October.

During this showcase, you’ll be transported into an exciting world of music from famous bands such as The Beatles, Queen, Abba, and more. The concert will offer spectators a show consisting of a host of professional performers, including soprano Lynelle Kenned, Jarrad Ricketts, saxophonist Don Vino, Township Opera, and performers of the Zip Zap Circus to perform with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.

New to the CPO scene are the dancing pair, Oleksii and Michele, crooners Tracey-Lee Oliver and Madeegha Anders, as well as singing group Asili. CPO’s resident conductor, Brandon Phillips will also be on the podium. The master of ceremonies will be top comedian Alan Committie and the musical director is Aviva Pelham.

The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1914 and is still going strong to this day. It’s one of the most versatile orchestras as is very active in Africa, contributing to Cape Town’s global status.

The orchestra has had various names of the years from the Cape Town Municipal Orchestra to the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra to the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra finally ending with Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.

The orchestra is culturally and financially stable, attracting leading international artists. The mult-functional orchestra is a world-class orchestra service to all the communities in the region and participates in concerts and festivals of all genres of music.
