Africa’s Rising Star, Odwa Bongo, Brings Impiliso (Healing) to Café Roux, Cape Town, On 14 August 2018.

The musically gifted Odwa Bongo will be live at Café Roux, Cape Town, sharing his recent ‘Healing’ project with Cape Town.

Odwa Bongo returns to Café Roux after a number of successful shows of Impiliso around the mother city. However this time around, Bongo has been invited to present Impiliso at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) Arts Festival in September 2018 and he would like to take his band from Cape Town. Presenting Impiliso at Café Roux, Odwa hopes to raise funds so that he can take his band to the UJ Arts Festival.

Impiliso will take place on Tuesday, 14 August 2018 at 7pm at Café Roux, 74 Shortmarket Street Cape Town City  Centre, 8000 and Odwa will be performing his heart warming and healing compositions. Also he will be honouring his music Icons; Simphiwe Dana, Mthwakazi & Zolani Mahola. The local rising star has had the privilege to share the stage with all the Icons mentioned above and that is a dream come true for him.

Bongo and his team have started a campaign called #FillUpCafeRouxCT with the aim of having one hundred audience members filling up Café Roux and raising funds for the band.

Odwa Bongo is a composer,song-writer,singer and performer. His music is avant-garde and speaks to the soul with an African dominating sound fused with classical music and jazz. Bongo has recently been chosen to perform at the Artscape Band Stand 2018 and his single ‘Confused’ was chosen as the Best Submission in 2017. Odwa was also the Standard Bank School’s Big Band Vocalist at the Grahamstown Jazz Festival and he was awarded the Best Tenor Soloist Award at the Drakensberg Boys’ Choir School. Currently, Odwa obtained his Diploma in African Music and he is performing his music around the country.
