If you’re a fan of gospel music, then you should already know who Julanie J is. But, how much do you know about her and her journey through music?
Music has always been a part of Julanie J’s life. Most of us, when we were young, would be content to sit in the mud and eat dirt. Not Julanie J! When she was 4-years old she had already written her first song. That passion for music never left her, and she has honed her craft ever since.
She has composed music which has gotten significant radio play and has been critically acclaimed. In addition, Julanie J has toured all over South Africa and abroad. In 2016 Julanie J released her debut album entitled “Spirit Breakout”. After less than 24-hours of the album’s release it had climbed to the top-20 spot on the international iTunes chart. Locally, the album reached the number 3 position on iTunes. This is an amazing accolade that almost no musician can claim.
2016 also saw Julanie J being nominated for a Mzani Award.
Julanie has performed with top artists in South Africa from Lloyd Cele to Heinz Winckler and shared stages with the crème De La Crème of SA and international artists.
Julanie J is widely regarded as one of the most exciting composers in South Africa. She has composed chart-topping songs for some of the country’s biggest stars. One of the elements that set Julanie apart and add to her skill is her ability to play multiple instruments. She is, in her own right, a gifted guitarist and pianist.
These musical skills definitely show through in her compositions.
In December Julanie will be in-studio recording her new album, and in April she will be touring the UK.
And the most impressive thing about Julanie is that she is only 19 years old! Watching her career unfold will be an exciting experience. Be sure to follow Julanie J on Facebook for all the up-to-date details on this young star.
