Metal Band Bursary Winners Announced

On Saturday night, Gandalf’s in Cape Town hosted their annual Metal Band Bursary, where Antonio Manuel gives back to the community by selecting bands who have gone above and beyond, during the past year.

7 bands played on that night, keeping the vibe strong and the crowd pumping. The bands included:

  • Echoes Through Eternity
  • Fuera
  • Rukuz
  • The Fallen Prophets
  • Subject To Slaughter
  • Ohgod
  • The Insomniac Diaries

There were 3 prizes up for grabs this year.

FIRST PRIZE: WITH DAWN
The prize for first place was a R5000 cash bursary and the iconic floating trophy horns!

SECOND PRIZE – BEST NEWCOMER: OHGOD
The second prize awarded was for Best Newcomer, OHGOD. They walked away with a R1000 cash bursary, a R3000 voucher from Paul Bothner Music, a single recording from Burning Tone Studios, and a Media Development Pack from Heavy Metal Panic.

THIRD PRIZE – BEST NEWCOMER RUNNER UP: THE FALLEN PROPHETS
The third prize was a R1000 cash bursary.

The bands have also been invited to a one-on-one strategy meeting with METAL4AFRICA.COM, Terminatryx, and Mind Assault’s very own Patrick Davidson.

For all the bands who missed out this year, remember to keep at it because there will be new winners next year.
