Julanie J is a 17 year old singer/song writer and author from Cape Town. She recently released her debut album “Spirit Breakout” and within the first 4 hours of release, the album hit the Top 100 charts on iTunes SA and in the course of 38 hours the album was number 3 in South Africa and 30th on iTunes world wide.
Julanie started writing songs at age 4. “When I took the song to my band, we found that the song was technically well structured”, says her mother, a singer/musician herself. “I then knew that I had a responsibility to mold her God given talent”. Julanie J grew up knowing that she will be a singer/songwriter/producer “one day”. Some of the songs on her album were written between the ages of 9 and 13! “Drifting”, a duet performed with Helmut Meijer, was co-written with Frank Furniss from the band, Furniss.
Sharing about herself Julanie says “I am simply a normal Christian girl with a huge passion for Christ and my family. I am the youngest of six and already an aunt to a few! I hope to one day have a family of my own to add to the bunch of crazies I call home.
My view of life is influenced by my experiences, my curious heart and a little bit of vulnerability. But I guess it is the same for everybody, just as I think we are all connected in some way or form. I believe we are much smaller than we would care to admit and that this universe is much larger than we ever can discover. My dream is that we would pursue a world that never stops dreaming, that we will never give up hope and that we always stay believing. What would I be if not a dreamer?
I hope to positively influence the world through what I do and that where ever in the world God leads me, I will season the environment around me”.
Julanie is also known for writing songs for famous artist around the world and has even written theme songs for a few organisations . The young artist is currently in the process of writing her own book titled Hearts can Heal; which will hit stores early next year.
