James West Live at Origin Trance Party
By PAUL BOTHNER MUSIC | January 25, 2017
The Origin Trance Party ethos is all about peace, love and happiness. This year the festival will take place at the Elandskloof Farm in Helderstroom near Greyton. One of the headline artists for the weekend is James West of Nano records.
James West has always been inspired by real artistic expression and innovation, his love of trance music is no different.
After many years of DJing and some of the best times of his life, James has formed a clear vision of what he wants to present in his own music. Capturing every nuance of the music, the parties and the way all the beautiful faces on the dancefloor make him feel.
Now, quickly gaining critical acclaim and enthusiasm from a host of top labels and artists, James’ music is being released and played worldwide.
Driving basslines, thought to provoke sound design, a keen melodic sense and high impact arrangements form the basis of his sound, a sound that will soon be instantly recognisable by many as the sound of James West.
For a more, personal look into James, read this interview he did for EDM Mag.
It was during the 2001 party scene in Cape Town that DJ’s Regan, Ans, and Chesh formed the idea for Nano Records. It has since grown to become one of the most respected Psy Trance labels on the planet.
Immediately after forming, Nano Records set up bases in South Africa and the UK. This allowed them to start recruiting DJ’s from the UK.
Nano Records is, without doubt, a leading purveyor of proper psychedelic trance music

Nano records Boss, DJ Regan had said James West was his best-kept secret. But that cat is now firmly out the bag with his 2016 EP release, ‘Our Time’. He also has an album near completion.
