Cape Town Big Band Jazz Festival

The Saxophone workshop will run in conjunction with the annual Cape Town Big Band Jazz Festival. The CTBBJF is now in its 19th year!

Every year high school and university big bands take to the stage at the Baxter theatre to put on a one of a kind show. Nowhere else in Cape Town will you be able to watch this many jazz bands take to the stage.

There is some amazing talent in high schools around the Cape. Last year had bands like the Sans Souci Jazz Cats and the Heathfield High School band take to the stage.

The event usually happens over 4 days; with last year having over 20 bands participating in the event!

Sister events

The organiser of the CTBBJF is also the organiser for the Marimba band and steel pan band festivals. Proceeds from these events go to help build the school level community.

This year’s inclusion of the saxophone workshop goes to further the scholar first approach that the festivals have become synonymous with.
