Nue Light Productions is the brainchild and passion of Julita Kok. This company is behind musical showcases such as ‘Christmas with GOD TV’, Blue Rock Gospel Fest, etc. Julita is a producer, events coordinator and artist developer/manager. Additionally, she is an accomplished vocalist herself and also filled the position of Worship Pastor at Cape Town Worship Centre for 8 years.

She has been actively involved in the local Christian Music Industry for the past 27 years and has recently been appointed to co-ordinate the national Mighty Men event of 2014. NueLight has a close relationship with all Christian Record Labels in South Africa such as Brettian, Christian Art (Old Integrity), Maranatha, Merchant, Doxa and Select. TD-4 Percussion Sound Module

Custom Carrying Case and More

Ivan Bell holds an honours degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Cape Town’s College of Music. Over the years, Ivan’s musical career has seen him working in many different environments and genres. These have ranged from Jazz Trios and Big Band ensembles, to Afro Cuban, Latin, R & B, Funk, Fusion, West African rhythms, South African music, Flamenco, Reggae and Rock, through to Classical and Orchestral appearances, with Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras.

Ivan has toured locally and internationally and played live and recorded on albums with Abdullah Ibrahim, Winston Mankuku, Tony Schilder and many other South African greats. He has also performed as drummer for the bands supporting Al Jerreau, Shakatak, Michael Jackson and Tina Turner during their tours of South Africa.

Jason is a very active drummer in the Afrikaans Gospel Music scene. His interest in drumming was sparked at the age of 5 years, after watching his local church’s drummer in action, he got his first set of drums a year later and, whilst furthering his skills, through tutoring with Bruce Wallace (whom performed at last Saturday’s Drum Month workshop), he gained most of his experience as a teenager, playing for the youth band, at the church, where his father still serves as a minister.

Where Angels Fear To Fly

Idols runner up, Mark Haze has released his much awaited debut solo album Where Angels Fear To Fly, via Universal Music. The album, produced by SAMA winning producer and shredding guitar-slinger, Theo Crous, is destined to set a benchmark in South African rock music. The album is a heady mix of great rock anthems and some lighter, soulful ballads where Mark shows the full spectrum of his powerful multi-octave voice.

“I’ve always wanted to put out an album that translates to everyone, regardless of where they’re from and I believe that if a song is good, it’s  good and that this album has something for everyone on it”, said Haze. “The title track, the evocative ‘Where Angels Fear to Fly’, is about my long journey to make a career and life from music and it is thanks to my fans and their belief in me that I has inspired to me make this album.”

‘Out of My Head’, the debut single off the album, went gold in late 2011, selling 20,000 digital copies and charting countrywide. The follow up, ‘Alone’ written by Jeff Cohen, Kara E. Dioguardi and Nic Lachey,  is already play listed on most major radio stations merely weeks after its release. Other highlights include the pulverizing, riff heavy ‘The Rabbit Hole’ where Mark gives a nod to two of his biggest influences, The Beatles and Metallica; the joyously decadent album opener ‘Shake what your mama gave you’ and the soulful ‘Wake Up (Dreaming of you)’.

“We received well over a hundred songs to consider for the album and we handpicked eight and I added six of my own to the collection,” continued Haze, whose stellar performances on Idols created much hype around South Africa’s powerful voices in rock, “It is a complete privilege to have recorded some songs by writers who have worked with Nickelback and Kelly Clarkson and these tracks, as well as my own, really reach down to the core of who I am as an artist.”

Following Mark’s success in Idols, he’s been touring relentlessly around the country. He managed to clear up some time in his schedule, to record at Bellville Studios with the legendary Theo Crous – known for his adept production and engineering work on The Springbok Nude Girls, Parlotones and Prime Circle albums. The album was mastered at 6-time Grammy Award winning Lurssen Mastering Studios in Los Angeles. Mark used his own band, Bjorn Faree, Gareth Haze and Brian Lee, who have been together for a decade – to play on the album. The band’s chemistry is notably enthralling.

An Assurance of Quality for Your Students and Employers
Teaching Diplomas are a guarantee of quality and experience to potential students and parents looking for a music teacher. The qualification can also be used in applications for employment with music centres and schools. Teaching Diplomas cover lesson plans, group and individual teaching, plus the training to recognise and critique teaching practise.

Entry requirements
The DipRSL (Level 4) is geared towards music professionals who are at the earliest stages of building a teaching practice. The LRSL (Level 6) is aimed principally at teachers whose practice is more established.

For Level 4 you need to have an accredited Grade 8 qualification or able to provide evidence of your teaching history. This evidence will need to be seen by Rockschool prior to you being accepted on the course. For Level 6 you should have an accredited level 4 qualification or able to provide evidence of your teaching history.

Get Qualified In Half The Time
Intensive courses allow musicians and teachers to attain their teaching qualification in the shortest space of time. These courses are offered in two different time frames:

• one is a seven day full-time course and runs over one week with attendance required every day

• the other is part-time and runs over a seven week period with one full day attendance required per week over weekends.

Please be aware that pre-course work is required to be completed prior to the start of the course. This course work is undertaken in the candidates own time and guidance is given on how to accomplish this.

• 7 day Level 6 (Licentiate) Intensive Teaching Course. Proposed dates for this 7 day full-time course are September Monday 3 through to Monday 10 with one day off on the Sunday.

The group Kings of Leon is one of the most successful bands in the world. Originally formed in 1999, the band hails from Tennessee and features Nathan, brothers Caleb and Jared, and their cousin, Matthew. Kings of Leon has enjoyed great success over the course of its career with five album releases on RCA, record digital sales, rankings in the Top 10 in over 10 countries, as well as Grammy Award nominations.

Raised in the South, Nathan and his brothers spent their childhood traveling from one Pentecostal church to the next. Nathan and Caleb moved to Nashville to pursue music careers and Kings of Leon was formed, after younger brother Jared and cousin Matthew joined the band in 1999.

In 2002 the band signed with RCA Records and has since released five albums; Youth and Young Manhood (August 2003), Aha Shake Heartbreak (February 2005), Because of the Times (April 2007), Only by the Night (September 2008), and Come around Sundown (October 2010).

Chicago Honours the Legendary Buddy Guy with His Own Street!!!

Blues legend Buddy Guy received a very special gift, for his 75th birthday. The Fender signature artist, was honoured by the city of Chicago, with a special proclamation from Mayor Rahm Emanuel and his very own street.

The 700-block of South Wabash street, outside Guy’s restaurant and his aptly named club Legends, has been renamed as Buddy Guy Way.

“They normally give this to you after you are gone,” said Guy. “My mom used to tell me, ‘Son, give me my flowers when I can still smell them. I’m not going to smell them when they put them on top of that grave.’”

Despite a steady rain, a very touched Guy insisted on venturing outside with Alderman Bob Fioretti, who read the proclamation, to view the unveiling of the street sign.
