- The M50-61 features a stylishly retro light-weight and compact design, and the M50-88 is the lightest weight 88-key keyboard Korg has ever made.

* when calculated as 16-bit linear data

Portable and packed with the best sounds

Korg’s over twenty years of design expertise in workstations has enabled us to make the M50 the perfect writing and performing keyboard for all musicians. The M50 is packed with the latest sounds and functionality that Korg has developed in its many years of producing synthesizers and music workstations.

It features a light-weight compact design that makes it ideal for live performance, band practice, and especially easy transportation. The 88-note M50-88 uses the grand piano feeling RH3 keyboard, making it an ideal choice for a stage piano.

Korg’s best sound engine

The M50 uses Korg’s latest “EDS” (Enhanced Definition Synthesis) sound generation system, the technology used on the M3, delivering exactly the same stunning sounds and effects!
Each voice contains a powerful oscillator section that can use up to eight stereo multisamples per voice (two oscillators, each with four-stage velocity switching/crossfading/layering), as well as up to four filters (two filters each with four modes and four routings), two amps, five LFOs, and five EGs.

The abundant 256 Mbytes of ROM (when calculated as 16-bit linear) provides a total of 1,077 multisamples (including seven stereo multisamples) sampled at 48 kHz as well as 1,609 drum samples (including 116 stereo drum samples),. These PCM sources were sampled using the best recording equipment and edited with expert care to deliver an incredible palette to create sounds with.

The filter section lets you use two filters for each oscillator. These filter types include low pass, high pass, band pass, and band reject modes, and they can be routed individually, in series or in parallel, and even includes a superb 24 dB mode.

The amp section provides a driver circuit that can bring a harder edge to your sound, and a low boost to add big bottom when needed.

An advanced key tracking generator can be used to adjust filter and amp behavior according to ranges of the keyboard, giving sounds a level of nuanced control across the whole range of the keyboard.

The EG (Envelope Generators) produce time-variant change from the beginning to the end of the sound, and allow you to tweak the curve at each stage (attack, decay, slope, release) in eleven steps, and unprecedented amount of control. This enables the M50 to create simulations of acoustic sounds where the tone and volume undergo complex time-variant changes, as well as highly detailed re-creations of vintage synthesizer sounds. There are eighteen LFO waveforms available for you to select from. These can be further shaped to produce the perfect modulation by adjusting parameters such as the waveform starting phase and amplitude shift.

The AMS (Alternate Modulation Source) function gives you a wealth of modulation possibilities; with a total of fifty modulation sources, you can be sure to find what you need, or use the AMS mixer to apply multiple modulation sources to a single parameter, or even process the modulation source itself to obtain precise control over your sound design.

There’s an independent three-band EQ available for each program, the drum track, and each of the sixteen timbres/tracks, so you can make separate and detailed tonal adjustments to achieve the perfect mix without having to use effects. The effect section which adds the final coloration and space to the overall sound contains five insert effects, two master effects, and one total effect. In addition to delay and reverb, you can use modulation-type effects such as chorus, phaser, and flanger, dynamic-type effects such as a compressor and limiter, and amp modeling effects driven by Korg’s proprietary “REMS” modeling technology, giving you a total of 170 high-quality effects. There are also two common LFOs that can be used between different modulation effects. For example you can use a single LFO to synchronize the phaser and flanger used by different timbres. The effect dynamic modulation function (Dmod) gives you precise and wide-ranging realtime control over tonal changes and effects.

Perfectly shaped sounds

The M50 contains 608 programs, 384 combinations each consisting of up to sixteen programs, and 32 drum kits used as oscillators for drum programs. From real acoustic instrument to vintages synths and imaginative textures the M50 delivers the wide range of great sounds you expect from a Korg keyboard.

For the all-important piano sounds, three-stage velocity-switched stereo samples are programmed in conjunction with samples of the damper resonance, producing the most natural sound ever heard from a synthesizer. There are also mono piano programs for use on stage, as well as programs using the waveform memory of the classic Korg SG-1 Sampling Grand, which is still acclaimed by artists around the world.

New PCM memory includes numerous vintage electric piano and clav sounds. The vintage E-piano sound features multiple velocity switching, and effects powered by Korg’s REMS amp modeling technology to recreate the full vocabulary of tones you want. The clavi includes all the classic settings as well as loud and soft (two-stage velocity) samples for each tone, giving you a highly expressive sound that’s fun to play. Also included are strings and flute sounds from the legendary tape playback instruments, still used in rock, pop and a wide variety of musical styles.

Each multi-part combination delivers sophisticated blends and splits for live performance, along with drum grooves and arpeggio parts that are fun to jam along with and are sure to inspire countless new song ideas.

There are also 256 programs and 9 drum programs that comply with the GM Level 2 sound map. User-edited data can also be saved into the internal memory, with space for 640 programs, 512 combinations, and 48 drum kits.

Drummer included

The drum track provides an always-ready partner to jam along with. You can easily choose from over 670 patterns that are built into the M50 as well as your own user-created patterns. These patterns can be started from any desired region of the keyboard or by playing a note that’s stronger than a specified velocity. Whether you’re capturing your musical ideas, producing a song, or performing live, the drum track will help you get your groove on.

Sequencing powerhouse

As the core of your music production system, the sequencer provides 16 MIDI tracks, up to 128 songs, and lets you record 210,000 notes. With a high resolution of 1/480, it can capture every detail of your expressive performance. Record in realtime or enter notes in step time, and you can loop each track individually so you can get a drum groove going and then play varying parts over that to create the perfect loop. Build your Song up from sections using the Cue List function to assemble the parts into the perfect arrangement. The RPPR (Realtime Pattern Play/Recording) function lets you assign phrases (patterns) to the keyboard and trigger them in real time by playing a single note of the keyboard. You can use this to trigger different patterns from each key or perform on another region of the keyboard while the triggered patterns play, giving you very sophisticated possibilities for real time performance. 671 patterns are built-in.

When you start playing a program or combination and like what you’re doing, simply use the Auto Song Setup function to copy the setup into the sequencer and start recording, instantly, producing the basic tracks that will become the core of your new song.

Dual polyphonic arpeggiators

In addition to a standard arpeggiator with five preset patterns (UP, DOWN, ALT1, ALT2, RANDOM), the M50 provides a polyphonic arpeggiator that can generate a variety of chord progressions and phrases based on the pitch and timing of the keys you play. This lets you produce a broad range of patterns, ranging from drums (using the “Fixed Note Mode”), bass phrases, or even guitar or keyboard backing phrases. The arpeggiator can also operate as part of the sound-creating functionality to create pads, synth sounds, or sound effects that include a subtle sense of movement. The M50 contains a total of 1,028 user arpeggio patterns, including 900 preloaded patterns created by our expert programmer/musicians.

In addition, Combination mode and Sequencer mode allow you to take advantage of the dual arpeggiator functionality that generates two phrases simultaneously. This allows for many powerful possibilities such as applying different arpeggio patterns to drums and bass programs, or using splits or velocity to switch between arpeggio patterns.

TouchView interface

The M50 features the same TouchView display that’s found on Korg’s high-end music workstations. The 320×240 pixel clear display ensures excellent visibility and operability, giving you easy access to an enormous amount of parameter information. No other keyboard in its class has as beautiful and intuitive of an interface!

Three keyboard models

The M50 is available as three models with different keybeds: the 61-key M50-61, the 73-key M50-73, and the 88-key M50-88. Both have been designed with careful attention to keyboard feel. The M50-61 and M50-73 use a new semi-weighted Natural-Touch keyboard that allows expressive performance on a fast, synth-action feel. The M50-88 uses Korg’s RH3 (Real Weighted Hammer Action 3) keyboard acclaimed for its graded-action grand piano-like touch, making it the ideal choice for a stage piano as well.

Editor and plug-in editor software included

The M50 Editor is a stand-alone software application that lets you perform even more detailed editing from your PC. By using the M50 Plug-In Editor, you can use the M50 as a plug-in instrument from within any host application, expanding your DAW production system without putting any resource drain on your computer (VST, Audio Units, and RTAS formats are supported).

SD card storage

The M50′s SD card slot lets you save programs, combinations, and sequences, and it also allows for easy data management. By using this common form of memory you are assured of getting your media for the lowest price, anywhere you shop.

These unwanted signals are caused by the diaphragm, whose movements do not precisely move in time with the electric signals that cause it to move. Unfortunately, this is a feature of all electroacoustic transducers. Although it cannot be completely eliminated, suitable steps can be taken to minimise it. However, the user is not interested in why this distortion takes place but in how great the level of distortion must be for it to become perceptible.

Transform your iPhone into a music production studio.

TRUE PERFORMANCE (that fits in a backpack)
The SynthStation25 transforms iPhone or iPod touch into a portable music production studio for mobile music creation. This MIDI keyboard controller gives your handheld device a two-octave set of piano keys and professional audio outputs, and it integrates perfectly with the Akai Pro SynthStation app and select third party apps. The SynthStation25 is powerful enough for professional musicians, yet virtually anyone can use it to easily create music.

THINK OUTSIDE THE SCREEN
This 25-key synth keyboard features a built-in dock for iPhone or iPod touch that allows you to take performance beyond simply touching the screen. Touchscreen technology is amazing, but it doesn’t respond to velocity which is a key component to capturing your musical expression. The SynthStation25 gives you two octaves of velocity-sensitive, synth-action keys, pitch and modulation wheels, and octave up and down and sound-bank buttons so everything you play get laid down in the mix. The SynthStation25 has a stereo pair of RCA line outputs and a headphone output for connection to recording and sound reinforcement systems.

UNLEASH YOUR CREATIVE GENIUS
You can use the SynthStation25 with Akai Pro’s SynthStation app as well as virtually any MIDI music software on your computer or with MIDI hardware devices such as sound modules, samplers, and MPCs using its USB/MIDI output. Available exclusively through the Apple App Store, SynthStation gives you three powerful synthesizers for creating and modifying sonic textures used for melodies, chords, and bass lines. Built around Akai Professional’s history in synthesis and drawing on the newest MINIAK synth, the SynthStation app sounds great and offers wide-ranging sonic flexibility with its virtual analog synthesis.

EXPAND YOUR STUDIO
We didn’t stop with building a great performance controller for your iPhone or iPod touch. Akai Pro offers a free software development kit (SDK) that enables third party app developers to extend the capabilities of their apps to include support for SynthStation25 so you always have something new for SynthStation25. This means you’re never left out in the cold when it comes to apps that work with your SynthStation25. In fact, developers are lining up to support SynthStation25 so let’s look at a few. 50-in-1 is just what it says; 50 great instruments all in one convenient app. Music Studio combines a piano keyboard, 90 studio-quality instruments, a 128-track sequencer, a piano roll editor, real-time effects and much more in a user-friendly interface. VirSyn’s iVoxel is the world’s first iPhone vocoder app with SynthStation25 hardware support. Another great app with SynthStation25 support is nanoStudio by Blip Interactive. NLog by Tempo Rubato is another app with SynthStation25 support and include 96 factory sounds, POLY, MONO and LEGATO modes and more. All of these apps extend the capabilities and usefulness of your SynthStation25 and more apps are coming soon. If you’re an app developer, visit our developer page and grab the AkaiConnect SDK.

The SynthStation25 transforms iPhone and iPod touch into a professional musical instrument. Craft your musical ideas wherever you are.

The Korg Triton is a music workstation synthesizer featuring digital sampling and sequencing. All Tritons use Korg’s HI Synthesis tone generator. They’re available in several models and various upgrade configurations. The Triton is world famous for being a benchmark of keyboard technology, and is widely featured in music videos and live concerts.

FEATURES:

Hyper Integrated sound engine has made the TRITON a world-wide standard.

Comprehensive 64 MB ROM includes many new sounds plus Korg classics.

USB / MIDI & SD card data storage

16-track sequencer, superb effects engine, and clear and user-friendly interface.

HI Synthesis
The TR Music Workstation is based upon the acclaimed HI (Hyper Integrated) sound that made the TRITON series the choice of professional musicians the world over. It boasts 64 MB of PCM data (twice the size of the original TRITON!), and a 48 kHz sampling frequency that exceeds CD standards to deliver highly expressive and professional quality sound. This expansive amount of high-quality PCM data is enhanced by multi-mode resonant filters, abundant modulation schemes and sophisticated effects to create Korg’s distinctively rich and brilliant sound with the warmth and fatness you expect. The new TR is also compatible with many TRITON family sounds and songs.

Abundant 64 MB Sample ROM
The new sampled waveforms include stereo-sampled piano (taken from the same sampling session as used on the OASYS!), electric piano, nylon-string guitar, acoustic guitar and strings. With multi-level dynamics and natural instrument articulations and vibrato, these waveforms produce expressive and realistic sounds. There’s also a full complement of excellent drum sounds and patterns covering a broad range of styles for music production and performance. The TR Music Workstation provides 470 high-quality multisamples and 518 outstanding drum samples, giving you a broad selection to work with.

Modulation Drives Distinctive Sound Creation
Modulation is what creates the motion, nuance and articulation that are such an important part of synthesizer artistry. The TR Music Workstation’s Alternate Modulation provides a total of 42 types of AMS (Alternate Modulation Source) including EG, LFO, keyboard tracking, and joystick (as well as controllers such as knobs and pedals) to create extremely sophisticated sounds. These can be programmed in, or operated in realtime to give your sounds a high degree of expressive life.

High-quality Effect Section
With development borrowed from Korg’s acclaimed D-Series digital recorders and TRITON workstations, the TR offers a broad palette of 89 types of effects to enrich your sound creations. The effect section consists of two Master effects, one stereo Insert effect, and one Master EQ (stereo three-band) together with a sophisticated mixer section that lets you control the routing of these individual components. Many of the effects offer realtime modulation of parameters and tempo-based synchronization, for total integration with your tracks.

Effect settings can be made independently for each Program, Combination, and Song, helping you bring your overall sound to perfect completion. With the optional EXB-SMPL sampling upgrade board installed, you can even sample through the Insert effect for even more sonic possibilities.

A Multitude of Fresh Programs and Combinations
The TR contains a wide range of new high-quality Programs and Combinations created by Korg’s renowned international voicing team. The new stereo piano is velocity-switched between two levels, providing realistic response to your playing dynamics. Even more realistic electric pianos, choirs, guitars, strings, woodwinds and drums are also provided. There’s also a rich collection of synth and sound-effect programs that are ideal for dance music. In addition to the 512 preloaded Programs, there are 128 GM-compatible programs and nine drum kits*. Unlike many other keyboards, all Program locations are RAM so you can adjust sounds to your liking, or replace them as you wish.

* The sound mapping of the nine drum programs is compatible with GM Level 2.

You can use up to eight Programs simultaneously in a Combination to create extremely rich and complex sounds. Combinations can contain layers that play multiple sounds simultaneously; splits that assign different sounds to different regions of the keyboard; and velocity layers that dramatically change the sound or switch Programs in response to your playing dynamics. Control assignments can give your sound and performance even greater impact.

Up to 512 Programs, 384 Combinations, and 24 drum kits that you create can be stored to internal rewritable memory locations. This data can also be stored or transferred to your computer via an SD card. Best of all, the TR is compatible with many sounds available for the TRITON and Karma keyboard products*, so you can enjoy the many commercial and user-created shareware collections available for the best-selling line of keyboards ever made.

* The TR can load sounds made for the TRITON Classic, Le and Karma music workstations. Only Insert effect 1 is loaded, the other four are ignored. Karma settings will also be ignored. Sounds created on the TRITON Studio and Extreme can be loaded, but the accuracy/reproduction will vary when the sounds use multisamples/drumsamples that are not available in the TR.

A Comprehensive Music Production System
The TR’s 16-track sequencer provides a capacity of 200,000 notes and up to 200 songs, creating a comprehensive music production system offering superb functionality and excellent operability. You can record in realtime or step time, and a host of powerful editing tools are provided.

Setting up for a new song is easy. Choose a template song (16 preset, 16 user) that has sounds and effects already set up; or use the Auto Song Setup feature to instantly set up the Program or Combination you are currently playing into a new record-ready song, complete with all effect and arpeggiator settings. Either way, you can begin recording immediately.

The Cue List allows you to build your arrangement up in sections (up to 99), and then convert them into a single song for consecutive playback or to create new song structures. You can build songs using 150 preset drum patterns and 100 user patterns, as well as take advantage of the Track Loop function to loop specified regions of measures within each track.

Song data can also be saved on an SD card in SMF (Standard MIDI File) format 0 or 1, letting you exchange data with most MIDI sequencers. Share your ideas with other musicians who are computer-users, or move your songs into your computer for further editing, notation, or integration with other applications. Once again, Song data can be loaded from the TRITON and Karma line of music workstations*, for compatibility with tens of thousand of users around the world.

* Only Insert Effect 1 will be loaded, the other four are ignored. Karma settings will also be ignored, as will Tone Adjust settings from the Studio and Extreme.

Ultra-powerful Arpeggiator
The richly expressive dual polyphonic arpeggiators generate powerful performances. In addition to five basic preset arpeggio patterns, the TR contains 200 patterns suitable for use with all different types of sounds, either fixed-note drum patterns or variable pitched parts. You can use one arpeggiator in Program Mode, and both arpeggiators simultaneously in Combi mode, and even record their output directly into the internal sequencer.

The possibilities are endless. For example, two different arpeggio patterns can be applied to two separate key-split sounds of a Combination, or you can use velocity to switch between two arpeggio patterns. Together with original patterns that you create, a total of 216 different patterns can be stored in internal memory. Arpeggios can be synchronized with MIDI clock, so they run in time with the internal sequencer, BPM-based effects, and more.

RPPR (Realtime Pattern Play/Recording) Function
The RPPR function lets you record a simple sequenced phrase or pattern, assign it to a key, and then play that pattern back in realtime simply by pressing the corresponding key. This gives you amazing possibilities for realtime performance; you can switch to different patterns with each key (and even use multiple keys to play different phrases simultaneously), or add additional patterns by pressing more keys. 150 preset drum patterns are built in, and 100 more can be created and stored for each Song.

Upgrade to Full Sampling
Add the EXB-SMPL sampling upgrade option board and transform your TR into a full-blown sampler. The TR’s sampling mode supports 48 kHz 16-bit linear mono/stereo sampling, with a full range of high-end waveform editing functions including time slice, time stretch/compress, crossfade loop, and more. The EXB-SMPL is user installable and lets you connect external SCSI devices to the TR, so you can take advantage of a wide range of storage media as well as CD-ROM sound libraries (ISO9660 and AKAI-format discs are supported). You can load AIFF/WAV files and AKAI’s S1000/S3000 samples and programs, as well as Korg format data. (For AKAI programs, only key-map related parameters are loaded as multisamples.)

Our unique EWG™ design is the result of intensive computer modeling of natural acoustic wave propagation. To provide more acoustically transparent high-frequency pattern control, hard edges, corners, and parallel surfaces were eliminated from the design while still enabling 90 x 60 degree high frequency coverage. The smoother, more “organic” shape of the EWG™ design reduces high frequency distortion and diffraction eliminating acoustic artifacts found in other horn design technologies. The result is smoother frequency response, greater driver efficiency, and improved vocal and instrument reproduction.

Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) Keyboard with matte black keytops

Just as on a traditional acoustic piano, the keys of the lower notes have a heavier touch, while the higher ones are more responsive to lighter playing. The keyboard’s sensitivity can even be adjusted to match your playing style. This Graded Hammer technology also enables the instrument to provide authentic touch in a lightweight instrument.

Amazingly Realistic Sounds

Yamaha’s highly acclaimed Sweet! and Cool! Voices deliver incredibly natural and dynamic sound. Use the Pitch Bend wheel, and hear these Voices–especially the Sax and Trumpet–truly come alive!

Live!, Cool! and Sweet! Voices

A huge palette of acoustic and electronically amplified instrument sounds. A blend of long, stereo and multi-layered samples is used to fully capture the natural presence, resonance, expression and vibrato of the real instrument.

Digital Signal Processor (DSP)

The DSP effect can be added to the Main and Dual Voices. These range from reverb-like ambience effects to distortion and other dynamic processing tools that le you enhance the sound, or completely transform it.

Easy Song Arranger

In addition to each song’s default style, you can select any other style to play the song with the Easy Song Arranger feature. This means that you can play a song that is normally a ballad, for example, as a bossa nova, as a hip-hop tune, etc. You can create totally different arrangements by changing the style with which a song is played. You can also change the song’s melody voice and the keyboard voice for a complete change of image.

Performance Assistant Technology (P.A.T.)

Play along with a song on the instrument’s keyboard and produce a perfect performance every time … even if you play wrong notes! All you have to do is play on the keyboard–alternately on the left- and right-hand ranges of the keyboard, for example–and you’ll sound like a pro as long as you play in time with the music.

Music Database plus External Files

You want to play music in your favorite style, but you’re not sure how to select the best voice and style for the type of music you want to play … simply select the appropriate style from the Music Database. The panel settings will automatically be adjusted for the ideal combination of sounds and style! Furthermore, this instrument allows Music Database files transferred via the internet (http://services.music.yamaha.com/). These files can be used in the same way as the internal Music Database.

USB TO DEVICE Terminal

Insert a USB flash memory in the USB TO DEVICE terminal on the instrument. It would let you save or load the registered settings and user songs created on the instrument, as well as read data from the connected device.

USB TO HOST Terminal

Dive in and take advantage of the wide world of computer music software. Connections and setup are exceptionally easy, and you can play back your computer recorded parts with different instrument sounds – all from a single instrument.

Portable Grand Button

Playing piano is fast and easy with Yamaha’s Portable Grand function. One dedicated button brings up a great sounding piano, stunningly rich and authentic in its sound as well as setting up the keyboard to play as a piano.

Easy Performance with Music Notation Display

When you play back a song, the corresponding score will be shown on the display as the song plays. This is a great way to learn how to read music. If the song contains lyric and chord data*, the lyrics and chords will also appear on the score display. * No lyrics or chords will appear on the display if the song does not contain the appropriate lyric and chord data.

Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.)

Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.) is an advanced set of helpful learning tools built into the instrument, letting you teach yourself how to play and perform. Y.E.S. helps you master a song with easy lesson steps. Each lesson can be done in isolation with either your left hand or right hand, or both.

Optional three pedals unit (LP-7A)

The pedal unit has three foot pedals that produce a range of expressive effects similar to those produced by the pedals on an acoustic piano.
