Dee Vees was established in 0ctober 1994 by Deon and Isabel van Rooyen. By 2008, after a few years of running a much needed music instrument source, they expanded their domain toKimberley.
Since Dee Vees’ inception, they’ve made regular contributions toward the local music community, in the form of community oriented work. They’ve assisted in the Annual National Piano Competition, hosted at the University of the Free State (UFS), for more than 12 years. Being humanitarian is an intrinsic element of the Dee Vee ethic, with Deon & Isabel having arranged and sponsored 4 unique concerts per year, where local bands performed in support of “Musicians in Financial Need”. For 5 years Dee Vees sponsored the very popular Media 24 “Spontaan” singing competition, with its winner being announced at “Die Vryfees” at UFS. Dee Vees has been supportive in developing artists by, amongst other things, hosting 2 Battles of the Bands in 2007 and 2008.
Dee Vees has been involved in the precise and intricate art of luthiership by developing four right handed electric guitars, 2 left handed electric guitars and three classic guitars. They also developed two “Bo Diddley” special 3/4 nylon guitars.
